Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

On my 42nd birthday, February 2005 I was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. This is an autoimmune disease that primarily affects the liver. Luckily for me I had an excellent specialist who diagnosed me in the early stages.

I don;t have any symptoms to moan about. Occasionally I get very itchy skin but its not bad enough to warrant medication. My liver function test (LFT) is the only sign of any problems and while I take the medication prescribed - UrsoFalk, then even the LFT is good.

I have added a link to the UK PBC Foundation, as we don't appear to have one in Australia. I get a regular newsletter from them, which is great because it makes you realise how lucky you are.
