Meela and Sheryl's Book Club

I have been going to my book club since 2007. Recently I had a friends two children staying with me so took them along to the library while I had my book club meeting.

When we got back from the library, Miss Meela who is 8 years old in 3 days, expressed her dismay that she couldn't go to book club as well.

We then started the 'Meela and Sheryl Book Club'. Only the two of us and because we can, we don't read the book in advance and we always make sure we have a cup of tea and a biscuit/cake/chocolate with us.

Our first meeting was on the 13 December 2020 and we read a lovely book called 'My Friend Fred' by Frances Watts. We talked about the story and how lovely it was as well as the illustrations. Dialogue was the key. I believe we scored it 4 1/2 out of 5.

Our second meeting was on the 27 December 2020 and we read ' The boy who unplugged the sea' by Paul Brown. A bit unbelievable that someone could unplug the sea, but we enjoyed the whimsical nature of the story. We were a bit disappointed in the illustrations, so gave it a 3 1/2 out of 5. This time we had tea with ice cream and cake.

Our 3rd meeting was on the 16th January 2021 and this time we decided to hold it in our shed aka the man cave as can be seen by the back ground. We read a lovely book called 'Lily the Elf: The Midnight Owl' by Anna Branford. We both liked this story. Lily was very brave in confronting her fear of the sounds in the night. The pictures and story were both very good. A bit longer than our two previous books, but still very enjoyable. We had tea and chocolate as well and gave it a big 5 out of 5.

If Miss Meela had her way we would have book club every time she came to visit! lol Lucky we both love reading, oh and cups of tea.
