Coeliac Safe Food Venues in Western Australia #1

So my daughter has Coeliac disease and has been diagnosed by biopsy, just over 3 years ago. She suggested that I post about the Coeliac Safe food venues that we have eaten at.

You might be asking why Coeliac safe as opposed to just plain Gluten Free options available at most food venues. Well as a Coeliac any gluten ingested continues to cause damage to the Villi which are located in our small intestine. For someone with Coeliac disease gluten increases the risk of cancers and other auto immune diseases as well as causing symptoms ranging from stomach aches to diarrhea - none of which are at all nice, and cause a lot of pain and discomfit.

Initially my daughter was eating at restaurants and cafes that had gluten free options, but after her 2nd biopsy and a talk with the Gastroenterologist she decided that the risk to her health was too high and has since only eaten at restaurants & cafes that are 100% gluten free or we make it at home from fresh ingredients. Which leads me to this blog post.

We are lucky to have this amazing restaurant/cafe on our doorstep.

They are 100% gluten free and also have been Coeliac accredited. Owned and run by a fantastic husband and wife team they create a beautiful environment as soon as you walk in. The food and service are amazing as well. The thing I remember most though is the fact that they always remember my daughters name and face (she goes there a lot!) ... how amazing is that in today's busy environment?!  A huge win for me, luckily the food is also amazing and the prices are comparable with a non-gluten free restaurant.

Farmhouse Chicken Pies - Yum!!!

On a recent weekend trip to Busselton we decided to visit Balingup and the Medieval Fair that they were hosting. We were hopeful that they may have a gluten free food stall and were very lucky to come across these guys.

"Mattia Italian Vibes"     https://www.facebook.com/MattiaItalianVibes/

Buckwheat wraps, toasted and with a huge range of fillings. Daughter had the salmon, avocado and salad and I chose the chicken, mushroom, avocado and salads. Divine!!! 100% gluten free and full of the most yummy food.

We then tracked them down to their stall at "The Shed Markets" in Abbey (Busselton) and indulged again,  as well as trying their crepe with nutella, banana and strawberries - divine.
